Who we are
Kathdhu (The Cornish Black Cat Web Design Company) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. Our address is Beth an May, East Hill, Tuckingmill, Camborne, Cornwall, TR14 8NQ. You can contact us about privacy at hello@kathdhu.co.uk.
Kathdhu is a sole trader business: Jon Pennington trading as Kathdhu. Our registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is in progress, and we’ll add the registration number here once it’s issued.
What we collect
When you send us a project brief or email us, we collect the details you choose to give us: usually your name, email address, information about your project and budget, and anything else you include in your message.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages securely. We do not use this to identify you.
How we use it, and why
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To deliver a project you’ve commissioned, under our contract with you.
- To keep records we’re legally required to keep, such as invoices.
We will not sell your information, and we won’t add you to a mailing list without your consent.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted providers to run the business, such as our website host (Cloudflare) and our email provider (SiteGround). They process data on our behalf under contracts that protect it. Some may store data outside the UK, with appropriate safeguards in place.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that don’t lead to a project for 12 months, and client records for as long as the law requires, typically six years for financial records.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it and, in some cases, to receive it in a portable form. To use any of these rights, email us. We’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and analytics
We never use cookies for advertising. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site and our brief form from abuse; this doesn’t need your consent.
Analytics, only if you agree. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to see which pages are read and how visitors find us, but only if you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner. Until you do, the Google Analytics script isn’t loaded, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_… that last up to two years, and Google processes your IP address and browser details on our behalf. Advertising features, ad personalisation and Google signals stay switched off. If you choose “Reject”, nothing is loaded.
You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of every page. Your choice itself is saved in your browser’s local storage (as kathdhu_consent), so we don’t ask again on every page.
Bonnie’s meow. If you switch on the sound for Bonnie the cat, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage (as kathdhu_meow). It’s off by default, is never sent to us and isn’t used to track you.
